May Book Club: The Great Gatsby ~ Day 96

So we move on from the gothic novel that is Wuthering Heights right into the roaring 1920s of Long Island where our next novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is set. It is a story where old money meets new money and the all American dream dies not long after it has been ignited with fast cars, extravagant parties, and its glamourous lifestyle.

"It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptous entertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan - a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe."

If you are interested in attending the May book club please email We will also be using the following reading guide for discussion on the night which you can find here. To add an extra element of fun to the evening "Gatsby" attire is optional and I do know of a couple of members who are jumping on the dress up bandwagon.
